Mrs. Mary L. Howard , age 79 of Margaret Street in St. Marys, Ga. passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 surrounded by her loved-ones.
Mrs. Howard was born on July 1st, 1934 in Barnard, South Carolina. She is the daughter of the late William P. and Maggie Sapp Conley. Mary was a wonderful mother, wife, aunt, and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally. Mary loved fishing. She was an avid collector of many things. She helped her husband Eugene to make his gospel tapes for many years and played the tambourine as he sang. She played practical jokes when necessary. She was a great seamstress and loved to decorate, including upholstery.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Roberts of St. Marys and Mary Jane (Rich) Anastasi of Cartersville, Ga.; her son, Perry (Jacalyn) Howard of Kingsland, Ga.; her sisters, Dannis Conley of Pembroke, Ga., Betty Gibson of Claxton, Ga., Alice Vanburen of Atlanta, Ga.; her brother, Bennie Conley of Augusta Ga.; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howard joins her husband, Eugene Talmadge Howard, her sisters, Julia Ennis and Gail Lanier, and her brothers, Vinson Conley and William L Conley in Heaven.
Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be held graveside at 11am Tuesday, September 10th, 2013 in Little Phoebe Cemetery in Folkston, Ga. with Pastor Chris Ogden presiding. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Conley, Jeffery Byer, Bill Ward, Randy Connor, Lance Toole and David Toole.
The family request any memorial contributions in Mrs. Howard’s honor be made to Hospice of Golden Isles.
