Ms. Monique Marie Walcott , age 43, passed away June 15, 2018, at her home in St. Marys, GA.
Ms. Walcott was born on January 6, 1975 in Potsdam, NY, to the late David and Mary Walcott.
Monique attended Saranac High School and was a graduate of Florida State College at Jacksonville. She had recently received her Associate of Arts degree with High Honors and begun a Bachelor’s program in Social Work. Her dream was to provide a safe space for underprivileged youth in the form of after-school programming.
Monique was a generous, caring, and creative member of her community. She was heavily involved in volunteerism at several local agencies including Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She was also a long-time attendee of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed running, quilting, reading, and had many other talents including being an excellent cook and homemaker. Being hospitable to others brought her joy.
Above all, Monique’s most important pursuit in life was being a mother. She loved her children fiercely and worked diligently to provide a good life for them. To see her kids thrive meant the world to her. She was known to talk about them often and everyone who knew her knew how proud she was of them.
Ms. Walcott is survived by her daughters, Emma (Shawn) Amorelli-Hawke of Clarence, NY; Winona Amorelli, of Cheektowaga, NY; Olivia Amorelli of Yulee, FL; her son, Benjamin Amorelli of Yulee, FL; her sisters, Robin (Rick) Scott of Bridport, VT, Karen (Tony) Cataldi of Kingsland, GA, and Bethann (Bill) Ryan of Wilmore, KY; her brothers, David Gerald (Ashley) Walcott, Jr. of Jacksonville, NC And Bobby (Julie) Gonyou of Savannah, NY; and beloved friend Lee Lautenschuetz.. She loved her many nieces and nephews with all her heart.
Besides her parents, Ms. Walcott was preceded in passing by her brother, David Scott Walcott, as well as her nephew, Richard Shawn Scott.
A visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am Friday, June 22 nd , 2018 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church in St. Marys, GA. A memorial service will follow at 11 am with Pastor J. Roy White presiding.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make a donation to National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Kingsland Boys Home, or Camden House.
