Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Gillette, age 82 of Kingsland, Ga., passed away on the morning of Monday, June 27, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys, Ga.
Nancy was born on May 30, 1940 in Newton, Ma. to the late Thomas and Mildred Carr, Sr.
Nancy grew up in Massachusetts and often reflected on her fond memories made there with her brothers and her best friends, Ann and Nancy. She moved to Kingsland, Georgia with her husband, Joseph Gillette Sr. in 1972, where they raised their two children, Billy and Cindy. Nancy retired from banking after more than thirty years of service. She had a special love for children and served as a church nursery volunteer for over thirty years. To know Nancy Gillette was to love her. To love her was a gift. She was kind, bright, and compassionate. She knew no stranger. Nancy was passionate about loving others and did so every day with a warmth that emanated in her smile. She had a special talent for witty banter, filling every inch of the interior of a Christmas stocking, and making everyone feel accepted. Nancy was an especially gifted Nana; always playing with, advocating for, and cheering on her four grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Gillette, Sr.; her children, Billy (Jan) Gillette, and Cindy Adcock, all of Kingsland, Ga.; her grandchildren, Kristen (Josh) Thomas of Kingsland, Ga., Devin Gillette (Olivia Valente) of Jacksonville, Fl., Justin Adcock of Yulee, Fl., and Amber Adcock of Statesboro, Ga.; and great-grandson, Baer Thomas.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in passing by her brothers, Tommy Carr, Harold Carr, and Bobby Carr.
A Graveside service for Mrs. Gillette will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, June 30th, 2022 at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga. with Pastor Dan Ruffin and Pastor Adam Jones presiding. Devin Gillette, Justin Adcock, Marty Gillette, Tony Gillette, Josh Thomas, and Chris Lang will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim, Jake, and Joe Gillette.
