Nicholas Furbish

April 4, 1985 — April 30, 2022

With heavy hearts, the Furbish family regrettably informs the public that Nicholas Frank Furbish passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2022, at his home in Woodbine, GA.

Nick was born to Virginia Susan Scarborough and Douglas James Furbish on April 4th, 1985 in North Carolina. Nick relocated to Richland Center, WI during grade school, and would later graduate from Richland Center High School in 2003. He will forever be remembered for his graduation stunt of walking barefoot across the stage to receive his high school diploma, establishing a tradition that was henceforth emulated by each successive graduating sibling.

Following high school, he joined the US army, and served for 8 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. During his military service, Nick served in South Korea, Iraq, and Germany. While in Germany he was briefly married and divorced. Upon his return to the US, he settled in Woodbine, GA to be near family. In his final years, he was employed as marine mechanic for Bowhead Marine.

Nick will always be remembered for his mischivous streak, his infectious humor, and his humble sense of charity to his fellow man. He lived a quiet life, enjoying time spent with friends and family.

Nick was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his siblings; Benjamin Furbish of La Crosse WI, Annika (Thaddeus) of Platteville, WI, Timothy Furbish of Richland Center, WI, and Kurt Scarborough of Woodbine, GA, along with three nephews, Hayden Furbish, Haytham Wontor, and Dryden Wontor, his grandmother, Harriet Reese of Richland Center, his stepfather James Scarborough of Woodbine GA, and many other family members and friends.

A military funeral service will be held at a later date, and a combined memorial remembrance will be held in conjunction with that of his mother, Ginny, later this summer.
