March 4, 1951 — March 7, 2019

Ollie Mae Smith  af fectiona t e ly known as  “ M A ”  to her children and grandchildren and  “ RED ”  to her  siblings and cousin s , ( age  68 ), of  Q uincy, Fl orida  –  Sawdust  Community , passed away on  March 7,  2019  surrounded   by her family  in  Kin g sland, G A   –  Camden   County . Per Ollie  Mae ’ s wishes  and certainly in line with Free Spirit , A Private  Ash Scattering at Sea Ceremon y  will be held  next Saturday ,  March 16, 2019  at  2PM  sailing  off the coast of Jackson ville, Florida from the St. John ’ s River into the Atlantic Ocean.  A  Repast Celebration of Life  Reception  for family and friends  will follow   in King sland, Ga.  O n  Saturday,  March 16, 2019   –   Time/ Location TBD.



Ollie Mae Smi th  was born  in Quincy, Florida  –  Saw dus t  Communit y to  the late  Oliver , Sr  & Lex ie Mae Gunn Smith  on  March 4, 1951.   Ollie Mae was  one of the daughters of sharecroppers so at an early age she worked on the fami ly ’ s tobacco  farm while  juggling   her  home and  school responsibilities ; this, she believes gave her tremendous st rength  and  per severance  that carried her through life .  She  was educated  in the Gads den  Co unty School system  (Ca rter Parramore High School)  and  la ter attend ed Indian River Jr. College in Ft. Pierce , Fl orida  where she studied Busin ess Administration and A gri culture .  She  worked in the Domestic and Agriculture industries for most of her life, but her most p rideful work was that of Caretake r for the elderl y and  the ill. People in her communi ty sought her out  r egularly  to care for their family members  and she  was always eager  to  lend her caring hands and sp irit .



Ollie Mae is  also known to  have  been a true student and teacher  of God ’ s  W or d and love d spread ing this  W or d to  others .  She absolutely loved people and they loved her   –  she  never met a stranger!   Those close to her  als o knows tha t she  had a s pecial  hobby of  growing beau tif ul  Plants and   collecting family photos  and  Stuffed Animals.



Ollie  Mae  is preceded in death by  her  Parents:  Oliver . Sr  and Lexie  Mae  Gunn Smith (1979, 201 3 , respectively ) . Her loving brother, Oliver S mith,  Jr (2007), Her Loving Sisters:  Inez Wi lcher (20 08), Marilyn Smith (2011), and Wanda Smith (201 5 ).



Ollie Mae is survived by her Daughters: Kimberly “Kim” Morris (Kevin) and Angela “Loffie” Walker (Corey); 4 Beloved Granddaughters:  Tekeysia Kinmin – “Kissie”; Casey Bullard – “Bullet”; Shatila Burgess – “Tekella”; and Precious Walker – “Lebby”; 2 Brothers:  John Richardson, Stanley Smith; 6 Sisters: Deloris Richardson, Geraldine Gibbs (Amos), Dollie Williams (James), Alice Hudson (Carl), and Tonya Smith; a devoted niece – Carla Harris (Al); a devoted great- niece Mikiyah Gilmore ; a devoted nephew Micah Morris; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins (The Gunns and The Rauls). She also leaves to mourn two special friends:  Mr. Roland Dorsey and Mr. Aaron Coverson.



The family of  Ollie Mae Smith  wishes to extend our sincere thanks to  Georgia  Hospice  Care ’ s  Team of  P rof essionals:  Jessica   Johns, RN ;  Dolores Smock,  CNA;  Sheila Gibbs,  C NA; Tracy Quintara, Social  Worker; Robert   Magoola, Chaplain  and all other f riends who  brought joy to  our Ma while she  was her e on Earth  –  T hank You!
