Mr. Richard Paul Nicklas , age 79, of Carnation Court in Kingsland, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Mr. Nicklas was born on February 18, 1936 in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Mary Sakasits and Charles Conrad Nicklas. He was also preceded in death by sisters Hedwig, Anne, Martha, Mitzi and Barbara, and by brothers Carl, Joseph and Robert. Mr. Nicklas served in the United States Navy for 23 years, achieving the rate of Master Chief Petty Officer. Following his service, he worked at Pratt and Whitney in Middletown, Connecticut for many years. Mr. Nicklas was an avid golfer and fisherman and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Nicklas is survived by his beloved wife, Joan M. Nicklas of Kingsland; his children, and their spouses, Rick Nicklas & Linda Ryan-Nicklas of Vienna, Virginia; Joanne Nicklas & Eric Weinberger of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Margaret Nicklas & Paul McGowan of Austin, Texas; Charles & Michelle Nicklas of West Hartford, Connecticut; and Eric Nicklas & Kerry Moles of New York, New York; and his grandchildren, Erin, Matthew, Eliza, Brian, Andrew, Carl, Jake and Maya.
Interment and military honors will be rendered at 11 am on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Connecticut Veterans State Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut.
