Richard Rowell

Mr. Richard Henry Rowell, Jr (Dick), age 75 of St. Marys, GA, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys, GA.
Mr. Rowell was born on June 11, 1948, in Waycross, GA to the late Richard Henry Sr. and Mertie May Rowell.
Dick grew up in Waycross, Georgia until he moved to St. Marys in the tenth grade and graduated from Camden High School. He found the love of his life, Brenda Wright and married her after high school. They were married for 56 years.
After high school Dick enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon finishing his duty with the Navy, Dick returned home to St. Mary’s, Georgia where he started working for the paper mill. After 30 years with the paper mill, Dick became a licensed electrician and started an electrical company that he co-ran until he retired.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, cruising with Brenda, spending time with his family and making memories. He coached football, basketball, and baseball for all ages for over 20 years. Of all the things he enjoyed, his favorite thing was being a father and grandfather.
Dick will be remembered for the lives he touched and all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them - and if you knew him, you knew that he loved you. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him and those he left behind. He will be missed dearly.
Dick Rowell loved his family so much. His children were the light of his life and his relationship with his brother and sister was cherished. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague, and friend. He touched the lives of so many people. He will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife, Brenda Rowell of St. Marys, GA; his daughters, Paula Lee of St. Marys, GA and Kristie (Jason) Konrad of Kingsland, GA; his son, Richard “Tripp” (Jessica) Rowell, III.; his grandchildren, Justin, Bryce, Averie, Kade, Braylie, Kerstin, and Finnley; his sister, Teresa (Miles) Moody; his brother, Gill (Cristina) Rowell; his sister in law Bonnie Johnson; his brother in law, Rex (Lorie) Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at Westside Baptist Church in St. Marys, GA. Funeral Services will follow in the church at 2 pm with Pastor Martin Turner presiding. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Mr. Rowell’s name be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
