Mr. Robert Darwin Hale , age 82, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, November 30 th , 2017 at Southeast Georgia Health System in St. Marys, Ga.
Mr. Hale was born on February 14 th , 1935 in Lee Townplace, Michigan to the late James J. and Leora A. (Short) Hale. Mr. Hale grew up working on his family’s farm in Albion, Michigan. It was there he learned the discipline of responsibility and hard work. It was a trait he carried his whole life. Later, Mr. Hale worked at the Corning Glass Manufacturing Company in Albion. Mr. Hale joined the US Marine Corps in March of 1953 and served over a year in Korea with 2 nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. After his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned to Albion. He went to work in machine maintenance at the Brooks Foundry, which specialized in gray iron castings and industrial counter weights. He and the love of his life, Lois Daniels later retired to Georgia, as the climate was more agreeable to them. They shared 45 years of life and love together until her passing in June of 2004. His daughter, Patricia and grandson, Derek followed them to Georgia and they have shared their lives together at Harriett’s Bluff these last few years. His presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Hale is survived by his daughters, Patricia Boughton of Woodbine, Ga. and Evie Bevard of Tekonsha, Mi.; his grandsons, Derek Daniels of Woodbine, Ga., Gary Daniels of Quincy, Mi. and Nathan Bevard of Osseo, Mi.; his great grandson, Zachary Bevard of Litchfield, Mi. and his great-great grandson, Jason Bevard of Tekonsha, Mi.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
