Mr. Robert Virgil Thomas, age 80 of Warm Springs,Ga., passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at UF Health in Jacksonville, Fl.
Mr. Thomas was born on January 12th, 1943 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Carl and Virginia Thomas.
Bob served as a Deacon at East Point Christian Church for many years and retired from the city of East Point Fire Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and enjoyed giving back to his community.
His family said, “Bob (Baw Baw) loved his family dearly and especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved his Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Bob had a love for the outdoors which included hunting, spending time at the beach and just riding his ATV on his property with his dog Harley.
Bob was a carefree, laidback person who was always up for a good joke and loved to laugh. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Bob left this earth on January 22, 2023 to be with his Lord and Savior and yes it was on Bob’s terms. I’m sure our Lord was frustrated with Bob trying to give directions on his way to heaven. We all love you!”
Mr. Thomas is survived by his daughter, Joely (Scott) Baker of Warm Springs, Ga.; his son, Ralph Jefferson “Jeff” (Lori) Thomas of St. Marys, Ga.; his grandchildren, Lauren (Johnathan) Myers, Sarah Anne (Nathan) Gibson, Jeffrey Thomas, Abby (Rowan) Godwin, Bryce (Kaley) Baker, and Shaye Baker; and his great grandchildren, Finley Charles Myers, Cecil Ford Myers, Nathan Lee Gibson, Jr., and Bridger Rowan Godwin.
A private memorial service was held by the family on January 28, 2023.
