Mr. Robert Scott Wheaton, 67, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin, GA.
Scott was born in Griffin, Georgia on October 11, 1945 to the late Robin Madison Wheaton, Jr. and the late Darian Brown Wheaton. He was a member of the Griffin High School golf and football teams, and later received a golf scholarship from Louisiana State University. While there, he was a member of the Varsity Golf Team and Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. In 2007 he was inducted into the Griffin-Spalding Athletic Hall of Fame.
Mr. Wheaton is survived by his three sons, Robin Madison Wheaton III, Harrison Whitsitt Wheaton and Andrew Welch Wheaton and their mother Whitney Harrison Wheaton, daughter-in-law Neal Wilder Wheaton, granddaughters Kathryn Powell Wheaton and Anne Wilder Wheaton, brother Robin McCulley Wheaton, sister Darian Wheaton Bardwell, and uncle Powell Wheaton.
The memorial service for Mr. Wheaton will be conducted on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11AM at the Phillips Chapel of First United Methodist Church in Griffin, Ga.
