Mr. Roy C. Nelson, age 94 of Landing Drive in Kingsland, GA. passed away on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at UF Health in Jacksonville, FL.
Mr. Nelson was born on September 25th, 1921 in Mobile, AL. He is the son of Roy & Annie Mae Bishop Nelson. His family said of him, “Roy was a storytelling, fish wrangling, game hunting avid outdoorsman. He has handed down the fine art of fish frying to multiple generations, and has fed many families the best greens and tomatoes South Georgia has to offer grown in his very own garden. He could fix anything, or at least “rig it up.” Roy is a war hero and our hero, and he will be in our hearts forever.”
Mr. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife, Rosa Lee; his children, Bernard (Chris ) Nelson of Vidalia, GA., Joseph (Nancy) Nelson of Lyons, GA., Danny (Connie) Nelson of Boone, NC, Dale (Charles) Joiner of Snellville, GA., Kirk (Ronna) Nelson of Lake Oconee, GA., Cliff (Kathy) Johnson of Galveston Island, TX., Wayne Johnson of Kingsland, GA., Janice Campbell of Kingsland, GA., Dan (Michelle) Johnson of Mooresville, NC, & Donald (Lynn) Johnson of Kennebunkport, ME.; and his numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great- great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Nelson joins his son, Tommy Nelson in Heaven.
Receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 2 PM on Monday February 1st, 2016 at Southeast Community Church, 790 May Creek St, Kingsland, GA. Memorial services will begin there afterwards at 2 PM with Pastor Danny Nelson presiding.
