Mrs. Ruby Lee Whitley was a native of Bacon County. She was born in Alma, Georgia to the late Sadie Dowling and Bill Pickren.
She married the love of her life, Ray Farrell Whitley on June 1st, 1957 and they shared over 53 years of life and love together.
Mrs. Whitley was a seasoned head chef that worked for over 20 years at several different officers’ clubs while traveling with her beloved husband, Ray during his military service.
After retiring, she spent her time gardening and spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Whitley loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Mr. Whitley and she would spend their time fishing and enjoying the outdoors together. She looked forward to her annual trip to Beaufort, SC that she and Ray would take each year. They loved that town and shared many memories there. She loved her husband, who she referred to as the love of her life. She was truly a family woman.
Mrs. Whitley will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We know she is with Sarge on a boat fishing and happy to be back with the love of her life.
