Shirley Jackson

Shirley Christine Gibson Jackson was born January 4, 1961 in Griffin, Georgia to Charles and the late Marian Swain. Chris, as she was affectionately known by many, and called his faithful servant, answered the final call on September 2, 2013.

Chris accepted Christ at an early age beginning her Christian journey and navigating her way from childhood to adulthood. She always celebrated her family, graduated high school, became employed, and then expanded her horizon when she met and married Eric A. Jackson Sr. on December 28, 1984. Chris and Eric, "the Griffin Jacksons", raised a family that she was so very proud of and was constantly praying for them.

She was a member of the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. This was her joy, working and helping with the children and doing other church work as needed. It was said that when she joined, "She hit the ground running for Jesus and she did not stop." All who knew her can attest to that.

Chris, it seemed, had a green hand, not a green thumb. She grew some of the most beautiful plants that adorned her house, plants reflecting love and blessings for her, Eric and their families.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her legacy of inspiration and her love for the family: loving husband, Eric A Jackson Sr; children: Gabriel N Foster, Eric A Jackson Jr (Shakira), and Ahmada J Berry; grandchildren: Janayia Foster, Darshaveious Foster, Camora White, and Camorjay Fuller; Sisters and Brothers: Carol (Bennie) Reynolds, Gwen Domineck, Wayne Davis, Margaret Gibson, Marian Sims, Kenneth Bass, Freddie (Vickie) Davis, Ronnie (Aletha) Davis. Parent: Charles Swain and parents-in-law, Levis and Odessa Jackson. Brothers-in-law: Michael (Beverly) Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson. Sis-in-laws: Lisa Jackson and Lori (Cessel) Taylor. Special niece, Benshebra Reynolds, special friends: Wanda Shephard, Paula Jackson, and Shirley Jester. Chris will be forever remembered by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
