Stella Whitworth

Mrs. Stella Whitworth of Griffin, Georgia, a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away December 6, 2014. She was born May 5, 1929 in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Earl L. Whitworth and a daughter Sherry T. King.

Stella was an energetic and giving woman. She spent her life caring for others through many charitable actions such as volunteering at the Five Loaves Food Pantry, Christian Ministries Hospice, Strike Out Stroke, acting as a care giver for the elderly, and through her frequent gifts of self and service to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish. She was an avid gardener and bowler as she believed in staying active and outgoing. She leaves behind her children, Sandra Whitworth, Patricia Whitworth Howard and husband Larry, Steven E. Whitworth and wife Catherine, and Deborah Stover; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Whitworth will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 9th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local charity that was special to Stella’s heart. Donations will be collected by Father Dennis Juan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1323 MacArthur Drive, Griffin, Georgia 30224
