Susan Mercer

Mrs. Susan Laurine Porter Mercer, age 75 of St. Marys, Ga. passed away in the late evening hours of Friday, October 12 th , 2018 in Brunswick, Ga.
Mrs. Mercer was born in Waycross, Ga. on October 2 nd , 1943. She is the daughter of the late Laurin McSwain & Ruby Ellen Thompson Porter. Her daughter shares, “My little ole momma was a good lady…she was sure helpful to me all my life. She was always working at something. She took me to all my activities when I was young. She was even a chaperone on many band trips through the years. She was always with me; we had many late night Wal-Mart trips and had a blast when we went Christmas shopping. Once I had children; she was just the best. I could never repay her for all the hours she spent washing and folding baby clothes or cleaning up my kitchen. She gave me funds to pay off my house, so I could stay home with my first son. She did more for me than I could ever give back to her. For the last few years, the tables have been reversed and she needed me to be her mom… I hope she thinks I did close to as good a job for her as she did for me. My faith lets me know that you are all anew again and no more hurting or confusion. I believe you are at the beach enjoying the sound of the waves and the warm sand on your toes. Forever a part of me…love you always Nanie.”
Mrs. Mercer is survived by her beloved daughter, Susan Collins of St. Marys, Ga.; her grandchildren, Mason-Blake Thomas Collins, Stetson-Cole Jacob Collins & Abigail Laura-Lynn Collins; her nieces, Barbara Farr Verzyle & Bonnie Farr Rogers: and her nephew, Bill Farr.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Mercer joins her husband, Aubrey and her brother, Addison Worth Porter in Heaven.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 17 th , 2018 in Burnt Fort Chapel Cemetery in White Oak, Ga. with Pastor Steven Smith presiding.
