Ms. Theresa Smith Nelson, 71, passed away at her home in Kingsland, GA the afternoon of June 26, 2023.
Her parents were the late Angus and Charlene Smith. She grew up in Camden County and although she enjoyed many adventures living in several states, she lived the majority of her life in Kingsland and considered it her home.
Theresa was a loving and dedicated homemaker until later in life when she turned her passion for antiquities into a boutique business. When most people were slowing down, she then discovered her love of, and talent for teaching and was employed for many years as a DUI/ Defensive Driving Instructor. She so greatly enjoyed pouring knowledge and wisdom into her students.
She loved her family and friends fiercely and was loyal to them beyond measure. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. Family holidays and celebrations held a very special place in her heart as she treasured being surrounded by family. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed many artistic endeavors, spending relaxing afternoons at the beach, and absolutely adored dancing!
She is survived by her son, Philip (Carisa) Nelson, Jr.; her granddaughter, Elsie (Tyler) Lamb; her grandson, Yogesh Utam; her sister Jan (Billy) Gillette; her sister, Tammy (Kelly) Brown; her brother Danny (Joy) Martin; her nephew, Mark (Jennifer) Crews, her niece, Kristin (Josh) Thomas; her nephew, Devin (Olivia) Gillette; her great-grandson, Elijah Lamb; her great-granddaughter Elizabeth Lamb; and her great-nephew Baer Thomas.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Angus Smith; her mother, Charlene Smith; her brother, Bobby Smith; her sister, Scheree Johnson; her grandmother, Myra Gay; and her brother, Tony Crews.
A celebration of her precious life will be held July 18, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at First Presbyterian Church 100 Conyers St. St. Marys, GA
