Mr. Thomas Hendon Pillsbury, Sr., age 81, of Griffin, GA, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, May 11, 2019. He passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, at his residence in Griffin.
Tom was born on October 31, 1937 in Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Bill Pillsbury; wife, Jan Pillsbury; 3 daughters, Debrah Grace, Elizabeth Martin and Lavonda Roberts; son, Tim Pillsbury and great-grandson, Brant Hoover.
Tom was veteran of the US Air Force. He worked, owned, and operated numerous businesses in the auto industries of Georgia. Tom was well-known for his generosity and compassion for others, and a favorite of all who had the opportunity to work alongside him. Out of all of the earned success and reputation he carried throughout his life, Tom spoke of his family as his greatest achievement.
He is survived by his daughter, Ann Evans and husband Chris of Charlotte, N. C.; son, Thomas Pillsbury Jr. and his wife Melody of Griffin, GA; son, Billy Pillsbury and wife Denise of Griffin, GA and Steven Jackson, who he loved as his own son; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as his two sons-in-law, Ronnie Roberts and Andy Martin, who loved him deeply as their Big Daddy.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Hendon Pillsbury, Sr. will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Steve Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens with military honors. Friends may visit the family Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Atlanta, through E-Donate at www.volunteer.va.gov/apps/VolunteerNow/ in memory of Mr. Pillsbury.
