Vandell Bennett

October 16, 1942 — October 16, 2013

Mr. Vandell “ Buddy” Bennett age 71 of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 peacefully at his home.
Mr. Bennett was born Folkston, Georgia on October 16th, 1942. He is the son of the late Van Dell and Mattie Mizell Bennett. Mr. Bennett enjoyed wood working in his shop with his bulldog Chance sitting by his side. He loved sharing his passion of NASCAR with his children and his grandchildren. Mr. Bennett passed his love of the outdoors to his children, who in turn passed it on to their children. Weekends were for going fishing and/or mud bogging with family and friends until someone had to be towed home, then it was bonfire time. Mr. Bennett is mostly known around this area as a great mechanic. There wasn’t a vehicle he couldn’t get back on the road or soup up, so it would be the fastest around. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren sharing his knowledge and stories. Mr. Bennett will greatly be missed.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Mrs. Ouida Ray Bennett; his daughter, Angela Bennett Simpson and his son, Dell Arthur (Tammy) Bennett of Kingsland; his grandchildren, Ashlee Simpson, Heather Simpson, Ethan Davis, Cameron Bennett, Caitlyn Bennett and Brandon Bennett, and several nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, Mr. Bennett joins his sister, Glenda Marcus and his brother, Jack Bennett in Heaven.
Calling hours for Mr. Bennett will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, October 18th, 2013 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home.
Mr. Bennett’s funeral services will begin at 11 AM Saturday, October 19th, 2013 in the old sanctuary of Kingsland First Baptist Church. Rev. John Jenkins will preside over the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Simpson, Randy Gunter, Troy Wright, Jeff Davis, Kevin Smith and Wade English.
