Vernon Ray

March 21, 1940 — August 15, 2025

Vernon Floyce Ray, 85, of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at Sears Nursing Home in Brunswick, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Ray; his parents, Henry and Edna Ray of Ray City, Georgia; and his sister, Helen Smith of Kingsland, Georgia.

Vernon is survived by his daughters, Wanda Marshall (Ken) of Kingsland, Georgia, and Patricia Pedigo (Jason) of Woodbine, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Brenda Douglas (Arnel) of Kingsland, Georgia; Olivia Cox (Jordan) of Folkston, Georgia; Megan Lair (Kris) of Anchorage, Alaska; and Eugene Strowbridge of Minnesota, along with five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and extended family members, and friends.

He is also survived by his siblings: Ouida Bennett of Kingsland, Georgia and Monty Ray of Ray City, Georgia and brother in law Harrell Smith of Kingsland, Georgia.

In his free time, Vernon enjoyed fishing, riding around on his golf cart, picking up cans, and spending time on his porch chatting and waving to friends and neighbors as they passed by. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Vernon will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and the simple joys he found in everyday life.
