Mr. Virgil Oscar Lynn , age 82 of the Groverview neighborhood at Harriett’s Bluff passed away at his residence Wednesday, December 21st, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Lynn was born March 14th, 1929 in Tampa, Fl. He is the son of the late Charlie Emmett and Ruby Lee Long Lynn. Mr. Lynn was wed to Miss Edna Jeannie Brown on April 15th, 1950 in Starke, Fl. He dedicated the next sixty one years of his life to loving and honoring only one woman. His family added that the woman he loved on his wedding day was the same woman he loved at his passing.
Mr. Lynn served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the Fifth Armored Division and earned his Jump Wings at Ft. Benning, Ga. After the service, Mr. Lynn became a dedicated employee of Armour Foods. He was a career employee with Armour Foods, ending his profession as an accounting/shipping controller, with 44 years of service. Mr. Lynn was a man dedicated to serving the Lord. He was a devoted member and Deacon of Harriett’s Bluff Baptist Church. His presence will be greatly missed by both his family and friends.
Mr. Lynn is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannie Lynn of Harriett’s Bluff; his precious daughters, Tammie Lynn (John) Cox, and Conchetta Lynn (Curtis) Tanner both of Kingsland and Pamela Lynn of Norton, Va.; his dear grandchildren, Melissa (Donald) Pethtel of St. Marys, John R. Cox of Jacksonville, Fl., Justin Cox of Kingsland, Corey Tanner of Atlanta and Chelsea (Matthew) Hitchings of Kingsland and his treasured great grandchildren, McKenzie and Zachary Pethtel of St. Marys, Ga. and Nathaniel Clyde of Roanoke, Va.
A memorial service will be held at Harriett’s Bluff Baptist Church on December 26th, 2011 at 11AM. Pastor Seymour Groover of Harriett’s Bluff Baptist Church will be conducting the memorial services.
