Mrs. Vivian Beatrice Warnes Sutton, age 90, passed peacefully on September 4, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Woodbine, Ga.
Mrs. Sutton was the youngest of seven children, born on March 19, 1931 in Lake Bronson, Minnesota to the late Anton J. and Ella Marie Heieie Olson Warnes. After age 10, her family then moved to Bremerton, Washington, where she graduated from high school and eventually met the love of her life.On January 20th, 1950 she married Jack Sutton and, after the birth of Brad, they moved to Athens, GA to live in the student housing campus at the University of Georgia. While Jack attended veterinary school, she gave birth to Jimmy and Melinda Gay. They later moved to Cordele, GA. where she gave birth to Jack, Jr. In 1962 they moved to Kingsland, GA where she gave birth to Georgia and Fred.
Mrs. Sutton worked with Camden Gas Company and then later, moved to St. Marys, GA and was employed by Gilman Paper Mill for many years, where she retired. But she could not retire completely. Besides being a homemaker, they soon opened up three Jack's BBQ restaurants where she helped to make the business a big success, while maintaining the books for all three, for many years, until the businesses later closed
She was very active in the community with the Catholic Church and volunteering as a Pink Lady at Southeast Georgia Hospital for ten years. Jack was blessed to have her as his faithful companion for 71 years. God gave them six children, 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and was always willing to talk to anyone of any age. Mrs. Sutton will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She worked for the Georgia Bulldog Alumni office for 2-1/2 years. She and Jack loved to attend, and later in life, watched their football games on television. She always had her pom-pom shaker and cheered for them. Attendees to the services are encouraged to wear Black and Red colors or their UGA shirts.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by husband of 71 years, Jack Leonard Sutton, Sr.; her children, Jimmy Wayne (Joyce Martin) Sutton of Jacksonville, Fl., Melinda Gay Hartfelder of St Marys, Ga.; Jack Leonard "Johnny" (Jolynne Sheffield) Sutton, Jr. of Jesup Ga., Georgia (George) Edwards of Virginia, and Fred Cory (Dena Volpe) Sutton of Brunswick, Ga.; her grandchildren, Jill Sutton Lewis, Wayne (Michelle) Sutton, Shane (Tammy) Snipes, Leah (George) Stahle, Calie and Caleb Sutton, Preston (Kelsey) Edwards, Sophia Edwards, Jessica Sutton, Drew (Annamay) Sutton, Cory Sutton, Evan Sutton, Jennifer (Aaron) Akers and Christine (Christian) Blackmon and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Aubrey, Sage, Reese, Cody, Cade, Randy, Ella, Jack, Parker, Riley, Leeland, Caison, Gannon, Emily, Forrest and Everett.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Sutton was preceded in passing by her beloved son, Brad Kenneth Sutton, precious granddaughter, Sarah Faith Edwards, and her brothers, Orvid Olson, Alton Warnes and her sisters, Orpha Lundin, Florence David, Audrey Ebben, and Doreen Lyman.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home, Kingsland, GA. Funeral services will be at 4 pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Coastal Camden Funeral Home of Kingsland. Mrs. Sutton's priest, Father Mariusz will have scripture readings and prayers. Interment will follow led by Brother Martin Fuller at Lawnwood Cemetery in Kingsland, Ga.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Sutton, Shane Snipes, Caleb Sutton, Carter Sutton, Sage Mayeux, and Randy Green.
