On February 18, 1966 in Spalding County, Georgia a baby boy was born to Mr. Robert Horton and Mrs. Georgie Mae (Moore) Horton named Walter David Horton better known as Chauncey. He was named after his uncle.
Tragically on Friday, March 6, 2015 his life was violently taken. Walter was a good man who had a heart for the people, he was a great father, great friend, great fiancé, great son, and great brother, and great provider. He was a hard worker in the Pine straw business for over 20 years who would work even when he was sick. He loved to help others and would help anyone that he could.
He was a God fearing man and in 2008 Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He would greet you with a smile and had a spirit of genuine kindness. He loved his family, adored his children, and loved his vehicles.
Preceding him in death is his son: Walter Horton, Jr and mother: Georgie Mae Horton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his dad-Robert Horton, God mother-Mary King, fiancée-Jacqueline Campbell, children-Kwanza Weems, Ryan Horton, Shiqutia Murphy, Shawaltra Horton, and Elijah Horton. Step children: Kiandre Redding, Brandon Campbell, and Zykierria Beck. Grandchildren-Katara Weems, Ciara Weems, Rodriquez Horton, Ryan Horton, Jr., Zacardi Murphy, and Cazavion Murphy. Sisters: Lisa Horton Hayes (Steve), Robin (Curtis) Jones, and Zina (Wayne) Coleman. Special sister in Christ: Sheila Barkley. Nieces: Nikki Hayes, Tahogany Jester, and Amilia Coleman. Nephews: Tyrone Hayes, David Hayes, Dontel Horton, and Curtis Jones. Uncles: Charles Moore, Freddie Moore, Roy Allen, and Floyd Allen. Great Aunt: Hazel Weems. Aunts: Fannie Mae (Albert) Akins, Elaine (Amos) Heath of Dayton, OH. Special Aunt and Uncle: the late Betty and Raymond “Uncle Bubba” Jordan, Special Cousins: Sallie Ann Jordan, Alphonso Jordan, Lorenzo Jordan, Robert Jordan, Sharon Dorise, and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Also his work family-Mike Ward, Jason, Chris, Gordy, and Little David.
Funeral services for Mr. Walter David “Chauncey” Horton will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Pastor Claude A. Franklin will officiate. Interment will follow at Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family Friday, March 13, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
