Mrs. Wanda Lorraine North, age 69 of Kingsland, Ga., passed away on the evening of Monday, August 15th, 2022 in Brunswick, Ga.
Mrs. North was born on December 3rd, 1952 in Folkston, Ga. to the late Carl and Lucy Horne.
Wanda was a graduate of Camden County High School, Class of 1972. After graduation, she continued her education by attending Brunswick Junior College, where she studied Accounting. Wanda had a long and successful career in the financial services industry in Jacksonville, Fl., working for many prominent banks and mortgage companies, and rose to the rank of Vice President. After retirement, she returned to her hometown of Kingsland, Ga.
Wanda was passionate about being outdoors, and spent as much time outside as possible, working in her flower garden and feeding her birds. She loved the simple pleasures in life, most notably camping. Some of her favorite activities included hiking in the mountains and fishing. Wanda could often be found enjoying live music, whether attending concerts in Jacksonville, or going to local venues to listen to her favorite local entertainers.
Wanda and the family ladies were very close and would venture off without the menfolk to the beach or the mountains for a week each year. She would also organize girl’s shopping trips with her mother Lucy, sister Glenda, daughter Hacie, and granddaughter Baylee whenever she thought that they needed a day to themselves. In addition to being mother and daughter, Wanda and Hacie were best friends and would speak on the phone frequently during the day to catch up.
Wanda’s grandchildren, Baylee and Rylan, remember sharing fun memories with their NaaNaa while growing up. From watching movies together while spending weekends at her house, to camping in St. Augustine during the summer. Baylee’s favorite memories with her NaaNaa occurred each October, with the two of them spending the day together to see a scary movie at the theatre, and then going to a haunted house that night. Rylan loved spending time during Christmas with her. They would go to NaaNaa’s house, order Chinese food for dinner, and then take turns opening the gifts they had bought for each other. As Baylee and Rylan grew up, they would always laugh together with their NaaNaa about their brother and sister fights, including the Santa Claus fight and the Scrabble fight. They will always cherish the memories they made with their NaaNaa.
Wanda loved to spend as much time as possible with her great-granddaughter, Lucy Grace Lorraine. They often spent time watching birds in the backyard, watching them fly and eat at the feeders. Wanda has instilled in Lucy Grace a love for birds, as she now points out each bird she sees and carries her stuffed birds with her everywhere.
In the evenings, Wanda could be found on her back patio, enjoying happy hour with her husband, Bob, and her beloved fur baby, Buddy. They loved to watch the birds together, and to watch the afternoon storms roll in. Wanda loved to be on the patio during a storm.
Mrs. North is survived by her husband, Robert North, Sr. of Kingsland, Ga.; her daughter, Hacie (Robbie) Bladen of Fernandina Beach, Fl.; her sister, Glenda (Buck) Wynn of Blackshear, Ga.; her brothers, Dennis (Ann) Horne and Don (Kimberly) Horne, all of Kingsland, Ga.; her grandchildren, Baylee (Jacob) Poore and Rylan Bladen; and her great-grandchildren, Lucy Grace Lorraine Poore and Liam Fitzgerald Miller; and her beloved dog, Buddy.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at Coastal Camden Funeral Home in Kingsland, Ga.
