Rev William Henry Browning , age 91, passed away at his home in Yulee, FL in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
Rev. Browning was born April 1, 1923 in Wheeler County, GA to the late Ashley John and Sadie Cox Browning.
Rev. Browning worked in Brunswick, GA during World War II at the J.A. Jones Shipyard building Liberty Ships. He attended Welding and Blueprint school. After 29 years of service, he retired from Babcock Wilcox as a Boilermaker in 1981. Mr. Browning pastored at Ella Park Baptist Church in Camden County for 14 ½ years, at Temple Baptist in Kingsland for 2 years, and at Calvary Baptist in St. Marys for 11 ½ years. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Callahan, FL.
Rev. Browning believed a man preached his own funeral by the life he lives every day. He also believed the only thing you can take to Heaven is your children and family by ensuring they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior- all other possessions are left behind. He will be missed greatly by everyone that knew him.
Rev. Browning is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gladys Chaney Mott Browning of Yulee, FL; his sister, Maydell Clark of Rome, GA; his children, Joann Clark, John Browning and Deidra Browning of Screven, GA., Betty Jean (Glen) Lewis of Townsend, GA.; Bobby (Danette) Browning of Odum, GA., and Debra (Eddie) London of GA.; his step-children, Glenda (Tom) Harvey, Eugene (Bena) Mott, William (Mary) Mott, and Robert (Joanne) Lee; his grandchildren, Terry (Kim) Allen, Tami (Chris) Morgan, Kern (Terri) Maulden, Trudy (Kyle) Hunter, Shannon (Robert) Green, Rob (Kim) Browning, Josh (Joy) Browning, Breanna Browning, Adrienne Browning, Andrea Browning, Greg Browning, Miranda (Dan) Wicker, Kyle Ellis, and Kaitlin London; his step-grandchildren, Chris Mott, Regina (Rocky) Davis, and Angela (Philip) Garbarini; his great- grandchildren, Zackary, Lucas, Olivia, Sophia, Catlin, Jacob, Emily, Taylor, Kyle, Madison, Dustin, Gage, Alec, Joshua, Emma, Harper; his step-great grandchildren, Maria and PJ; and his great-great granddaughter, Delia.
Besides his parents, Rev. Browning was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Lucille Gibson Browning; his brother, Grover Browning, his sisters, Jean Nelson and Vernell Edwards, and his daughter, Gerry Tobias.
A graveside service for Rev. Browning will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Ella Park Cemetery in Waverly, GA with his son, Deacon Bobby Browning officiating. Rev. Browning will be laid to rest by his first wife, Lillian.
