William Duessel

Mr. William Anton Duessel , 82 of Kingsland passed away in the early hours of Friday, March 18th, 2011 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick.
Mr. Duessel was born in the Bronx, NY on May 24th, 1928. He is the son of the late Anton and Madeline Dilg Duessel. Upon graduating high school, “Bill” as he was known, entered the US Army and served under General Douglas McArthur during World War II. After the war, he worked for New York telephone and retired with 41 years of service. Bill was married to Marie Antonette Nole Duessel on November 1st , 1953 in New Rochelle, NY and they shared 52 years together before her passing in 2005. Bill loved the retired life. He enjoyed football, the New York Yankees, and spending time with family. One of his favorite passions was to watch the weekly grocery store ads. He always loved a good piece of meat on sale. Mr. Duessel was a good man and will truly be loved and missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Duessel is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Anthony) Finsness of Kingsland; his sons, William Robert (Tara) Duessel of Kingsland, and Eric (June) Duessel of Northborough MA.; his sister-in-law, Lou Duessel of Litchfield, AZ; his grandchildren, Jon (Rebecca) Finsness, Erik Finsness, Katelyn Finsness, Paul Duessel, and Scott Duessel; his great grandchildren, Ella and Jonny Finsness.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Duessel was also preceded in passing by his brother, Harold C. Duessel.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, March 20th, 2011 in the Wainwright Chapel of the Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Hughes presiding.
