William L. “Bill” Vincent , 81, of St. Marys, GA passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Vincent was born October 25, 1929 in Bethlehem, WV (near Shinnston) a son of the late William Nyle and Mildred M. Drummond Vincent. Mr. Vincent served our country as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy retiring with 22 years of service. He served as Mayor of Shinnston from 1974-1980. Bill later served as a WV State Legislator. He was a member of the Apollo #13 A.F. and A.M. Lodge in Troy, NY.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christine K. Vincent whom he married September 6, 1985. He is also survived by his sons, Matthew Vincent and his wife Jackie of Newport News, VA; and Nyle Vincent of St. Marys, GA; 2 daughters, Karen Vernon of Bridgeport; and Diane Morgan and Rev. Aaron Morgan of Stonewood; five grandchildren, Lance and Andrew Vernon; Sean Vincent; Faith and Kassidy Morgan; and one great-granddaughter, Hope Danielle Vernon; his brother, Donald L. Vincent and wife Jeannie; and Judith A. Rice and husband George all of Shinnston. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vincent was preceded in death by his brother, Wilbur Nyle “Buddy” Vincent; and sister, Shirley Jean Colfer.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston on Thursday from 5-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 1, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ruth Fogal officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
