Willodeen “Dean” Lydia Wild , 93 of St. Marys passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Senior Care Center of St. Marys.
Mrs. Wild was born in Brunswick on January 19th, 1917. She is the daughter of the late Thomas Gatchel and Addie Christian Lambright. She was a graduating member of the 1934 class of Glynn Academy High School. On May 3rd, 1938 she wed Roy J. Wild and they shared 42 wonderful years together until his passing in 1980. She and Roy were devoted members of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for many years. Dean, as she was called, had a love for the outdoors, which was evident by her green thumb and many bird feeders. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed listening to Mr. Bill play the piano. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Wild is survived by her daughter Sandra D. (Harry) Evans of Lizella, Ga., ; her grandchildren, Kathy (Greg) Barnes, Roy Evans, Lydia (Smokey) Sutherland, Cyndi (Ronnie) Williams and Chris (Elaine) Brinson; her great-grandchildren, Daniel Barnes, Brinson Williams, Wright Brinson and one to be born in China. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Wild was also preceded in passing by her daughter, Sue Brinson, her sister, Helen Russell and her brother Harold Lambright.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday September 18th, 2010 in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick with Smokey and Lydia Sutherland presiding.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys United Methodist Church for the chapel preservation fund.
A special thanks to the staff of St. Mary’s Senior Care Center and to her very special friends, C E and Grace Kirkland for all the love, care and joy they brought into her life.
