Mr. Yates Webb Harrill, Sr., age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home in Kingsland, Georgia.
Mr. Harrill was born June 3, 1938, in Bessemer City, North Carolina, to the late Fritz and Henrietta Harrill.
He proudly served over 20 years in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and later worked as a Corrections Officer at Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. A skilled mechanic and carpenter, Mr. Harrill enjoyed working on projects in his spare time and was known for his ability to fix just about anything. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a man of strong Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball, and most of all, spending time with his family.
Mr. Harrill is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise Harrill (Davis) of Kingsland, Georgia; his daughters, Shana Somers of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Linda (Dirk) Copland of St. Marys, Georgia; his sons, Warren “Tom” (Dianne) Harrill of Kingsland, Georgia, Robert “Bob” (Anita) Harrill of Woodbine, Georgia, and Gene Harrill of Pooler, Georgia; his grandchildren, Dale (Sabine) Somers, Julie (Craig) Dunham, Melissa (Steve) Lanigan, Rachael (Nick) Allison, Jennifer (Jason) Nix, Thomas (Kara) Harrill, Ian (Lindsey) Moore, Laura Denton, Mary Katherine Edmiston, Jesse Denton, Leah Harrill, Caleb Smith, Bobbi (Roydon) Fernandes, Victoria (Dean) Kessler, Madison (Chris) Dandaneau, James Harrill, Kiara (Sean) Curtis, and Benjamin Harrill; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harrill was preceded in death by his siblings, Alda Keever, Mary Gragg, Peggy Harrill, Fritz Harrill, Jr., William Harrill, Samuel Harrill, and Thomas Harrill; his son, Yates Harrill, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Yates Harrill III, Lucas Ramjattan, and Zachary Harrill.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Friendship Baptist Church in Kingsland, Georgia, with Steven Buchholz officiating. Interment will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida, with military honors rendered.
