Zollie Reid

Zollie Mae Jester Reid was born in Monroe County on July 18, 1922 to the proud parents of Peter & Eula Sanders Jester. At an early age Zollie joined Towaliga County Line Baptist Church. Zollie was formerly educated through Cabin Creek Public School System in Griffin, GA. Zollie met and married the love of her life, Arthur Jay Reed, Jr. or Jay as he was affectionately known and they were joined in holy matrimony October 15, 1941.

To this union three children were born Rosa Mae (Alonza) Johnson, Kenneth Louis Reid, (Felicia Clemons, Special Friend), Arthur Jay Reid, Jr., (Sandra Martin, Special Friend). She is also survived by step sons, Charles Reddings and Jerome Alexander; sister, Mattie Sue Walker; sisters-in-law, Hattie Sue Reid, Lois Ware, Tsukiko Jester, Gladys Reid; twenty one grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; special friends, Luella Hastings, Carrie Lois, Jessie Perl Ham, Brenda Price & Sarah Walker; host of nieces & nephews and friends. Zollie was predeceased in death by Robert Garett Jester, Laurice Jester, Thelma Lucille Jester Jackson, William Horace Jester and Walter George Jester. Zollie dedicated many years in the work force, working for the Murrays & Haisten Funeral home in Griffin, GA. Zollie enjoyed many hobbies such, as gardening, cooking and sewing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Zollie Mae Jester Reid will be conducted Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Towaliga Baptist Church. Reverend Eddie Collier will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
